The practice of TCM in China began over 5000 years ago. The first historical document, entitled Huang Di Nei Jing (the Yellow Emperor’s Canon of Internal Medicine), dates back to between 800 and 200 BC. TCM is based on the understanding that in health, the body is in perfect balance. However, in disease, this balance is disrupted as a result of either external influences or an internal deficiency or weakness. TCM treatment aims to restore the body to balance, hence achieving health once again. Within our bodies, there are channels through which vital energy, known as Qi, flows. When the body is healthy, the flow of Qi is smooth, and uninterrupted; when the body is unwell, the flow of Qi can become blocked, slowed down, or abnormal. Another way of understanding TCM is that there are two opposing energies in our bodies, known as Yin and Yang, which are in perfect balance when we are healthy. Any disruption to this delicate balance of Yin and Yang may lead to an excess or deficiency of Qi, blood or essence resulting in illness. Acupuncture works by stimulating specific points along the appropriate channels in order to correct any disruption of Qi flow, thereby allowing the body to return to health via its own healing abilities. Chinese Herbs, on the other hand, do more than just regulating Qi flow. They are also able to replenish any deficiencies as well as calm any excess. The action of these herbs can be further enhanced by regular acupuncture treatments. | Hours of operation: Well Adjusted Chiropractic Centre Mon: 2:30pm - 7:00pm Wed: 11:00am - 7:00pm Thr: By appointment Journey To Cure Naturopathic Clinic Fri: 1:00pm- 6:00pm Sat: 10:00am- 4:00pm Email to make your appointment today! gulei.nd@gmail.com |
